Thanks To Photographer Julie Wilson, Awareness About An Important Issue In Society Has Been Raised.

Photographer, Julie Wilson, grew up with a younger sister named Dina who was born with Down Syndrome. She understands the struggles those with Down Syndrome and their families face.

This is why Julie recently embarked on a special project which involves very special subjects.

She arranged a photoshoot with a group of children with Down Syndrome.

Her goal for the project was to showcase how amazingly awesome, funny, and unique each of these kids are.

Her hope is to convince everyone that Down Syndrome doesn’t change a person. It is just an extra obstacle to overcome in life.

The kids look absolutely happy and joyful in the pictures.

Down Syndrome is a condition which occurs when a baby is born with one extra chromosome.

The degree to which Down Syndrome can affect a person’s life varies. In certain circumstances, it will have a more debilitating effect whereas, in others, it can be very easy to deal with.

While there is no formal cure, Down Syndrome research has evolved and those are living longer and can enjoy their lives more despite having the disability.

Although Julie’s sister Dina passed away over four years ago Julie still remembers her beloved sister dearly.

Thanks to medical research and advancements, Dina was able to live a life that was double the average age a person with Down Syndrome would live.
